The Federal Government’s 25 November 2023 announcement to introduce a workable Country of Origin Labelling (CoOL) system amongst Australia’s food service following unanimous support by all State governments last week was the result of many years of hard work by the seafood sector – including ACPF – the charge led by Seafood Industry Australia (SIA).
Transparency and trust when consumers are ordering prawns is vital. CoOL gives consumers dining in Australian cafes, restaurants, and other food service areas improved transparency about the origin of the seafood. The ACPF expresses appreciation to all involved for supporting this important initiative – a ‘win win’ for both the seafood industry and Australian consumers.
