SeSAFE Project

The SeSAFE project commenced in March 2018. It is funded by the FRDC, AMSA, and the commercial fishing industry.

This initiative aims to raise safety awareness and improve safety performance in the Australian fishing and aquaculture industry. It also aims to increase awareness of Workplace Health and Safety Law relevant to the industry and clarify roles and responsibilities of fishing companies, boat owners, skippers, and crew. SeSafe includes development of a Learning Management System (LMS). It comprises multiple, simple training modules to deliver essential safety training and awareness to fishers prior to going to sea. The modules complement any onboard training and the contents of an SMS.

The ACPF will be working with this project over the coming months to ensure the content can be suitably adapted for our member fisheries. A presentation on the SeSAFE project will be made at the ACPF AGM in Brisbane on 26th September 2018.
